Day 647: Missing My Gym!

By

G’day Shredders,

The last 3 days my gym has been closed to the annual O-Bon holiday season here in Japan. Even though I planned my 4-day break to coincide with the gym closure I am getting a little “restless” now!

This may seem strange but I can already see a loss of condition in my physique over the last 3 days. However, I know from past experience just how important it is to take a minimum of 4 days off after an 8 to 12 week period of training.

Case in point: Eight years ago on BFL I went 10 months straight with no more than one day off per week for the whole time period. This over-training led to burnout and a 6-year period failed attempts to get back into shape.

Therefore, I will “endure” one more day off from training as I have learned the hard way what happens when your body does not get adequate rest.  One thing is for certain, come Monday I will be raring to go!

Until tomorrow…

Eat Clean, Shred Hard, Think BIG!

    Hi there Adam,

My Name is Lee im from the UK Just want to say congrats for hitting the 3 mill mark mate on ya videos.

Also what you have achived to date is something i would love to achive and be where you are today. My hats off to you Adam… I have now the same problem you had all those years ago ( big belly and overweigh and of course although im smilign on the outside on the inside is a diffrent matter totally. But I now know its time (after seiing your blog and the results you have achieved) to say enough is enough and just do it.

At the age of 28 im way out out of physical shape and ashamed of myself. and wished i found this blog a few years ago :(

I will be starting my shredding on the 18th of august 2008, the thing is i know very little about nutrition, the exercise part of things not a problem but i always find the strict food ragiem very difficult to follow how did you cope with it??? . i also do shift work and wonder if i can work my shredding around this?

I will be starting my own blog to record my results which will also give me the motivation to do this.

Your are the man mate and a true inspiration to all, any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.

P.S high to all the fellow shredders Peace

    Cheers mate

Lee, if you’re confused about nutrition (and I was too; I knew the basic rule of ‘eat well’, but ‘how’ was something that confused me!) I would suggest investing in a copy of ‘Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle’ – see here on Adam’s page for a link to his entry about it, and a link to purchase it. It’ll cost you about £20, but believe me it will clear a LOT of things up for you, and educate you on a host of others!

As for fitting workouts around shift work, there are plenty of exercises you can do at home (bodweight exercises and with dumbells, or even full weights if you have the room!).

Get your blog going, and we’ll all be here to help you get going :)

Hi Lee, thanks for your message and kind words mate. In regards to nutrition and how to stay compliant I would recommend formulating your powerful reason why for starting this journey. The compliance to nutrition and training is “easier” once you are clear on why you are doing this (preferably something that burns deep inside you). In fact, I have just written a 50 page module on this very topic for my upcoming RTP Transformation System, it really is that important I believe.

In the meantime mate, I would recommend as Mark suggested getting a copy of BFFM and learning as much as you can about nutrition, and also investigate ways you can train in light of your shift work. With a powerful reason why these things can be overcome.

Please let me know once you have set up your blog, I’ll add some “positive pressure” for you!

    Shred hard,
    Adam
