Quad Blaster (from Carlos) is SUPER cheap. I was shocked by how cheap it is for something that is hand constructed. He just gave me an estimate of $180 to build and ship the device, so I think I'm going to pick one up at the end of the month.

Adam, actually, if you watch the video, it is nothing like a Roman Chair Squat. In a Roman Chair Squats have your feet under a bar and your legs supported by the Roman Chair itself. If you see the video you will see that the exercise I described is almost exactly like the Quad Blaster. It puts you in the same position, but your feet are not supported by any straps at all. The bar itself replaces the strap that goes back behind you. I think this is about the closest thing to the Quad Blaster that you can get.
I agree that actions, results and experience speak louder than words and that's why I say don't knock it until you try it. Jeff Anderson and Nick NIlsson know quite a bit about exercise physiology and they specifically recommend this exercise, even calling it "The Quad Blaster Workout". Give it a try and compare it to the Quad Blaster. I think you'll see that your actions, resultts and experience will be in agreement with that of Jeff and Nick.

Hey Adam,
As an observer watching you do the Roman Chair Squat and the QB, I definitely thought there was a difference between the exercises. Sometimes things that seem the same on the surface, can deliver totally different experiences.
What everyone didn't see in your vid but I got to witness firsthand, was Tom V on the QB. And let me tell everyone, if the QB can offer someone of Tom's status that big of a challenge, it's got to be seriously intense.
BTW, 545 days straight and 8 years of experience is huge and a lot more than most people can claim. Your word is good enough for me at this point.

Go for it Mike! Get your own QB and document your progress with it. By the look of your quads now I think you would get a good number of reps right out of the gate.
P.S. Carlos does ship internationally too.

Hi Suzette, great job on guessing the right answer. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll get to experience the QB first hand!

Michael,
What you have just described is similar to a Roman Chair Squat. This is what Tom Venuto and I did for Quad Blaster warm-up.
A Roman Chair vs. Quad Blaster comparison is on both Tom's and Carlos' websites at the specific links that were provided in the post.
From Tom Venuto, CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ISSA, ASCM
"Some people who looked at the quad blaster the first time said, ‘Its nothing special, it’s just a roman chair squat.”
Indeed, the roman chair squat is about the closest thing there is to the quad blaster, but mark my words, it is NOT the same thing. They ARE similar, but you have to use the quad blaster to appreciate the uniqueness of the device."
From Carlos DeJesus, 1985 Natural-For-Life World Bodybuilding Champion
"How is The Quad Blaster different from the Roman Chair?
The Quad Blaster lives. What I mean is, it breathes. If someone were to observe you using the Quad Blaster they would notice that the cushion behind your knee moves with you in a perfect arc of your thigh movement when you use it. The Roman Chair does not. The Roman Chair is a stationary apparatus; The Quad Blaster can be carried with you."
From Myself:
I have personally tried both and I agree with Tom Venuto and Carlos DeJesus. I do not claim to be in their league but I have learned a thing or two over the last 545 days on my RTP Mission and over the last 8 years since I started BFL.
Here is a tip for you:
Actions, Results and Experience speak louder than words.

Micheal, you'll need to video that ( i am having trouble envisioning that)
Here's what i do: ski squats. Place a stability ball between a wall and the small of your back. lean on the ball and lower to a squat position - bend at the knees unthill your thighs are parallell to the floor. Now, hold that. For as long as you can...usually a minute or so. When you feel like you're going to fall over, or when you do fall over, then you can release your posiiton. Hold dumbbells to increase challenge. Do three sets of them and feel the burn!!!
